Ascending/Descending Arpeggios
All lick examples in this free lesson will be based on the Em chord.
Other than the standard ascending then descending arpeggios we have come to expect in recent years. (As Seen below)

Standard

There are two other ideas that you can use for ascending or descending arpeggios if one of these methods doesn’t fit the song try the other.
1. Inversion – Ascend or descend using the 3 different inversion shapes of said arpeggio

Ex-Ascending

Ex-Descending

Ex Desending
As you can see after the 3rd time both repeat the same shape on the fret board every 12 frets from the original shape.

2. Octave Repeats – Ascend or descend using the octave repeats of said arpeggio
